What is an Indiana School Choice Scholarship?
The School Choice Scholarship (voucher) is an award from the state in which the per-student state funding is granted to the approved private school of your choice. To be eligible the student must live in Indiana and be accepted to a participating Choice Scholarship School. Mater Dei High School and all of our affiliated Catholic elementary schools are approved School Choice participants.
There are two components to determining eligibility for a voucher:
- Student eligibility criteria
- Household income limits
Continuing Choice Scholarship Student Track
The student received a Choice Scholarship Voucher in the previous school year. Household annual income at or below 200% of free and reduced lunch guidelines.
Previous Choice Scholarship Student Track
The student received a Choice Scholarship Voucher in a previous school year, but not the 2019-20 school year. Household annual income at or below 150% of free and reduced lunch guidelines
Previous SGO Track
The student received an SGO Scholarship in a previous school year. (Students from private and public schools may apply for SGO scholarships). Household annual income at or below 150% of free and reduced lunch guidelines
Special Education Track
The student has an individualized education plan (IEP) or a service plan
(Please note that a 504 plan does not qualify in this category) Household annual income at or below 200% of free and reduced lunch guidelines
"F" Public School Track
Based on the student's place of residence, the student would attend a public school that has been assigned an "F" grade. A student enrolled in a private school may apply under this category since it is based on place of residence not prior attendance at the "F" school. Household annual income at or below 150% of free and reduced lunch guidelines.
Two Semesters in Public School Track
The student was enrolled in a public school, including a charter school, in Indiana the two previous semesters before enrolling at the private school. Household annual income at or below 150% of free and reduced lunch guidelines.
Sibling Track
The student has a sibling who received the School Choice Voucher or SGO Scholarship in a previous school year. Household annual income at or below 150% of free and reduced lunch guidelines.
